Dear Infinity Students,

Did you know that Camp Empower is happening at Infinity this year? Camp Empower is a week-long camp that focuses on girls becoming healthy, helpful members of their communities.  Providing a safe, positive, and inclusive environment, programing will be centralized around altruism, confidence, and mindfulness. If you still need to sign someone up here is the link.

We are back to our regular schedule this week with the exception of Lynn’s Saturday Qi Gong class being canceled.

Dear Infinity Students,

We have a couple of changes this week as a few of us are out of town. Gretchen Mulkey is subbing for me this Monday. Mollee’s Gentle Yoga on Tuesday and Asana with Alanna on Thursday are canceled. We look forward to practicing with you when we return!

Dear Infinity Students,

Jacque wanted me to let you know that she’s now able to cool down the studio with the air conditioner so don’t let the heat keep you away!

On that note, please always let your teacher know if the temperature is uncomfortable for you during class. We have the large window AC to accommodate us in the summer and the wall heaters to help keep us warm in the winter.

Our classes are back to our regular schedule this week, with the exception of no Qi Gong on Saturday. Lynn is still adjusting to a new job so if you are planning on attending Qi Gong please get on her personal email list so she can let you know of any changes that come up.

This Wednesday Infinity is offering a day of Safe Breast Screening Thermography in our yoga studio. If you want an appointment make sure to call the office right away. As of Friday there wasn’t much space left. This also means a change in our Wednesday schedule. My 8:15am class meets as usual, Lynn’s 9:30am class is canceled, and Deb is meeting her students at noon to go for a walk instead.

Dear Infinity Students,

We are back to our regular schedule this week with one addition. Due to a special request I’m teaching Gentle Yoga this Saturday morning, so if you’ve been missing starting out your weekend with me please feel free to join! This class will return for real this September.

Infinity Wellness Center has some great events coming up. The first is a free Pets and Pests doTerra class coming up on the 10th. Then on July 17th, Infinity is offering a day of Safe Breast Screening Thermography.  Thermography is a safe and effective way to detect changes in breast tissue and we’re excited to offer this important service.

Today as I write I’m reveling in the joy of practicing with some of you all week, enjoying the salutations at The Longest Day, and experiencing SHIFT~ last night. The word community is echoing through my mind and I am truly appreciating all of you.

I know some of you are super busy this time of year and perhaps haven’t checked in with your Infinity community in awhile. We are here for you when you return. There’s a mat or a place in a Qi Gong class waiting for you.

Dear Infinity Students,

Remember on Friday evening as part of The Longest Day event we’re partnering with Muddy Waters Yoga Studio to celebrate with 108 Salutations down by the levee. And Saturday is SHIFT with Sharon Mansur and Erin Drummond. Join us for a informal performance followed by delicious snacks. Information about all of this is below.

We also have some interesting talks hosted by Infinity Wellness Center this  week. On Wednesday 4-5pm there’s a Sun & Skin doTERRA class,  giving information on which oils are photosensitive and should not be used on your skin prior to going outside in the sun. On Thursday at noon there’s a free talk on Mental Fitness featuring local Hypnotherapist Sarah Ventura.

Don’t forget that this Tuesday Mollee’s Gentle Yoga class happens at Bluff Country Co-op so you’ll want to make sure you pre-register.

Dear Infinity Students,

We’re excited to announce we’re partnering with Muddy Waters Yoga Studio and The Longest Day community event to celebrate the Summer Solstice with 108 Salutations down by the Levee. More information below!

I have some unexpected demands on my time and energy and have needed to let some things go so I am going to take a summer break from my 4:30pm class on Monday and my 10:45am  Saturday morning Gentle Yoga class. I’m sorry if this seems abrupt I am deeply appreciative of all of you who attend these classes and your commitment to your practice, and I plan on returning in the fall. My Monday/Wednesday/Friday 8:15am classes will continue through the summer and for the foreseeable future, hopefully I will see you there!

We are excited to welcome Sarah Maxey who begins teaching weekly classes Tuesday, June 4th at 5:30pm. She’s a familiar face around Infinity Yoga Studio, as she’s been a dedicated student since we opened our doors 5 years ago. I had the pleasure of taking a class from her a few weeks ago and definitely left with that lovely Vinyasa buzz. I highly recommend you add this class to your schedule and experience it for yourself.

We are back to our regular schedule this week, with the one exception that Alanna is subbing for Mollee’s Tuesday noon class.

Happy Memorial Weekend!

As you might have heard, the clinic is closed tomorrow, but I am still teaching the 8:15am class. 4:30pm class is canceled.

I want to draw your attention to a few upcoming events hosted by Infinity Clinic. There’s a Green Cleaning Class on Wednesday, May 29th, an informational session on Dry Needling on Thursday, May 30th, and a Mental Fitness talk on Thursday, June 20th.

Don’t forget that Sarah Maxey’s class begins Tuesday June 4th, 5:30-6:30pm. You’ll also want to save the date of Sharon Mansur’s next SHIFT~ which is Saturday June 22nd.

This coming Sunday, June 2nd, there will be no Restorative and Yin Yoga, April will be back on June 9th. For those of you looking to “relax and restore” before then, you are in luck because that is Alanna’s theme this week!

Hello Everyone,

I love this quote. It has served to remind me again and again how important it is to slow down and actually pay attention to how I feel. As the world seems to demand my attention more and more, and information streams in at an overwhelming rate, sometimes this wisdom can get lost. And yet at the times in my life when my practice and awareness are their strongest, so is my ability to cope and my ability to contribute to my community.

So while you’re planning your summer schedule let’s remember not only how much our bodies need us to take care of them, but also what wisdom awaits us when we take time to go within.

Many of you know Sarah Maxey from class, but you may not know she is also a teacher.  I’m happy to announce she’s teaching a series at Infinity this summer called Summer Flow: celebrating sun and self-care. It will run Tuesday evenings from 5:30-6:30pm beginning the first week in June. More information to come!

Next weekend is SHIFT~, a performance salon with poet Mai’a Williams and musician woolen lover curated by Sharon Mansur, as well as the Journey into Spring Retreat. There is information about both events below. No need to register for SHIFT but if you’re coming to the retreat please let me know as soon as possible.

De-stress and re-focus while getting your yoga fix during the lunch hour. This all-levels 45-minute yoga sequence will help create balance in the body and mind and, of course, connect with and honor the light within us all.

Breath

I studied breathing and meditation for years before attending a yoga class, but really the story of my relationship with breath began much earlier. As a child I was obsessed with breath, I marveled that something so important could happen without me thinking about it.

I will admit that part of it was a morbid fascination in that, once I learned about death and understood that part of death meant the lack of breath, I became hyper vigilant about my own. I learned that when I laid in bed alone and thought about dying I would feel like I couldn’t breathe. I also learned that when I purposely slowed down, taking deep breaths and blowing all the air out, that I could calm down and go to sleep.

It moved onto a more healthy fascination as my mother taught me to breathe when she taught me to sing. I remember lying on the floor with her instructing me to pay attention to how it felt to breathe from my belly, and trying to emulate that feeling once I stood up. Breathing was always an important part of preparation for any performance, whether it was singing, playing the piano, or later the cello.

I was also a swimmer, so being aware of when and I how I breathed was something that I learned to think about. I often think of swimming while performing Forrest style Abs, actually; I think it’s the short holding of breath that triggers those memories.

I’m wandering down this trail of memories because I’m preparing for this week’s classes and our focus is breath: the first pillar of Forrest Yoga. The next four weeks we’ll be making our way through all of them leading up to our retreat on May 19th.

Thank you to everyone who came out for our Community Yoga Day last week! I am loving these so much we’re going to continue. Next one is Monday May 27th at 4:30pm, hope you can make it.

This Tuesday at 5:30pm we are having another Infinity class sampler where you can experience Nia, Qi Gong, Pilates Fusion, Forrest, Restorative Yoga, and Forrest Inspired Vinyasa. If you’re planning on attending make sure you let us know so we can save you space!

Since next weekend is Easter we have a few changes to the schedule, make sure you check it out below.

Week 4 of Elle’s Journey into Spring Series

Invokes a sense of action.I was thinking of you all as I took my walk, listening to the melt working it’s way through the culverts on the sides of the road. Between the snow melting, the mist in the air, and the intermittent rain, water has been my constant companion today.

Water can be a cooling element to work with when the fire gets too intense. It is the cleansing of springtime. It is also heavily associated with emotions and can bring relief when we’ve bottled them up. Part of our work as humans is learning to navigate our own emotional flow.

Water is perhaps the most mutable of the elements to work with, it can quench our thirst, cool our heat, be as magical as a drop of dew, or as powerful and patient as a  river carving our landscape.

On the mat we’ll be inviting awareness of our emotions during our practice, playing with the concept of flow; when we can direct it, and when we are along for the ride. We’ll also work with a few different meditations to invoke this important element.
